What Would Nellis Say?
The American Fascist Party
The American Fascist Party
By Rick Stiller
For the past decade, opinion writers and columnists have been hesitant to state the obvious or to use terminology that accurately describes the extremism and racism of Donald Trump and his MAGA party. All pretense of civility or decorum has been excused by his hateful, disgusting rhetoric at recent rallies, culminating with his final appalling tent revival for his Klan of white nationalists this past weekend.
Failed and twice-impeached former president, adjudicated rapist with thirty-four felony convictions, and instigator of the violent insurrection to overthrow a free and fair election he lost, Donald Trump held a five-hour gala at Madison Square Garden that was a blatant imitation of and salute to the pro-Hitler rally held in the same venue in 1939. That gathering drew more than twenty thousand American Nazi supporters on the eve of the Second World War and was organized by antisemite Fritz Kuhn of the pro-Nazi German American Bund, who demanded a “white, gentile-ruled United States.”
Trump’s pagan ritual was a final pathetic testament to his domination over what was once respected as The Grand Old Party. He has transformed it into the MAGA Nazi Party by controlling its funding, leadership, and tyrannical philosophical foundations. At the current event, New York radio host Sid Rosenberg joked that it was “out of character for me to speak at a Nazi rally. I was just in Israel.”
Trump’s racist consigliere and architect of the program to separate thousands of migrant children from their mothers at the southern border, Steven Miller, reached back to paraphrase Kuhn’s intent when he said, “America is for Americans and Americans only.” Considering his history of stoking racial hatred, one must assume that he is referring to “white” fake-“Christian” Americans.
Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s xenophobic joke about Puerto Ricans, who are American citizens, living on a “floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean.” was well received by the white supremacist audience and condemned by real patriots across the nation. Continuing his vile comments, he went on to say that Latinos make lots of babies because “they don’t pull out” and mocked a black person in the audience with a watermelon joke!
After 2017’s Hurricane Maria demolished vast swathes of the island and killed 2975 citizens in one of the deadliest natural disasters in over 100 years, Trump visited and threw rolls of paper towels to victims desperate for food, water, electricity, and medical support to survive and begin rebuilding. With his blatant racial prejudice as justification, he withheld the $20 billion in aid for disaster relief allocated by Congress through the end of his term, when the Biden administration released the funds.
The MAGA candidate wants to use military troops to round up migrants (not necessarily undocumented immigrants), his perceived enemies who call out his lies, and your liberal friends and neighbors and ship them off to concentration camps where they can be deported to countries most have never visited, without due process of our laws because they are “the enemy within” and “vermin” who are “poisoning the blood” of the nation.
He claims he wants to “rescue” places that have been “invaded and conquered” by “vicious and bloodthirsty criminals.” To enhance his ‘fear of immigrants’ message, he and J.D. Vance concocted stories that migrants were eating dogs and cats in Springfield, Illinois, and destroying Aurora, Colorado, despite statements by leaders of both communities vehemently denying those accusations.
He claimed that VP Harris “has imported criminal migrants from prisons and jails, insane asylums and mental institutions from all around the world, from Venezuela to the Congo.” As the former president knows, none of that is true, and vice presidents have no power or authority to “import” anyone into this country.
Trump has said repeatedly, “Your crime is through the roof,” and “statistics show that crime is up 45 percent under the current administration.” FBI data reveals that violent crime declined from 2020 to 2023 “with a historically large decline in murder.”
He wants to tear up or ignore trade agreements with our partners across the globe and slap tariffs on every product imported from other countries to “protect American manufacturing” while ignoring the fact that those costs will be passed along to American consumers and inflation will increase in direct proportion.
His campaign’s inner circle includes a clutch of white racist South African billionaires who have offered massive financial support in exchange for another enormous tax cut for the richest of the rich and their corporations (his last unfunded tax giveaway raised the national debt by 25% during his four years in office), and are lobbying to discard restrictions on their massive internet companies that control the quality and content of communications and internet commerce.
One of his closest advisors and $120 million campaign contributor, Elon Musk (think ‘X’ – formerly Twitter, now the internet’s sewer, Space X, Starlink, and Tesla), has massive contracts with the United States government, but he is also in regular personal contact and has business interests with Russian dictator Vladamir Putin.
Without regard for treaties, alliances, or international laws, Trump proposes withdrawing from NATO, ending funding for Ukraine’s defense so Russia’s Putin “Can do whatever the hell he wants,” and using American troops to wage war against drug cartels in Mexico, which happens to be a sovereign nation.
Trump and Congressional Republicans repeatedly tried and failed to eliminate the Affordable Care Act that provides health coverage for more than 23 million citizens during his last term. According to the Heritage Foundation/Republican’s Project 2025, the next administration would drastically defund or eliminate Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
In addition, he proposes installing extremist vaccine skeptic Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to oversee and diminish or dismantle all government health agencies, including the Center for Disease Control, the Food and Drug Administration, and the National Institute for Health. These agencies protect us from impending epidemics, ensure safe food and effective pharmaceuticals, and oversee medical research.
Ladies – Donald Trump said, “I’m going to protect women, whether they like it or not.” He boasts of eliminating your right to make your own decisions about abortion, and his Supreme Court extremist majority is coming for your birth control, IVF, right to vote, freedom to follow your professional dreams, or marry whoever you choose.
The “macho” fascist party wants to turn the clock back to a time when a woman’s place was in service to the “man” of the house - cooking, cleaning, and producing as many babies as he desired. They have no intention of making America Great Again for women, and this election might be your last chance to protect your dignity and independence.
We have reached the political and social depths of depravity when nearly half the population supports this senile, confused, psychotic fraud for another term as President of the United States. There was nothing patriotic about the Nazi gathering in Madison Square Garden in 1939, and our nation hopes that Trump’s current incarnation of hate and bigotry will be remembered as the shameful beginning of the end of the MAGA Fascist Party.
During five hours of disgusting, vile speeches that drew cheers and applause from the crowd of proud Trump supporters wearing those ridiculous red hats that symbolize America’s swastika, some essential words and ideas were deliberately excluded.
Words that define who we are as a nation and a people. Words like Democracy, Liberty, Freedom, Justice, Equality, Inclusion, Unity, Love, Joy, Hope, Honesty, Promise, Possibility, Fairness, Pride, Dignity, Empathy, and Decency should apply to every one of us, not just the privileged few or the bigots who support the orange clown.
The choice is clear – hypocrisy, lies, bigotry, hate, chaos, and division are staples for Trump and his minions in his next administration, or we can select a new beginning, an inclusive future of promise and possibilities that we can and will build together. Choose wisely.
