Mega MAGA Maggots

Mega MAGA Maggots

By Rick Stiller

Senate hearings begin this week to confirm or expose a clown car full of unqualified misfits that Trump has nominated to become Secretaries of the Executive Departments that run the machinery of government, the armed forces, and the economy.

Few, if any, have the experience or professional expertise we might expect to run these agencies. Most carry duffle bags full of past indiscretions and outright crimes that would disqualify any candidate in any previous administration. (You can imagine Republicans whining and screaming if these were Democratic nominees?)

Despite their baggage, most, if not all, have been nominated because they professed two beliefs…that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump and that they will be obediently loyal to the future president rather than to their oath of office or the Constitution.

The plan for this coming nightmare was spelled out in detail in the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 –  Mandate for Leadership, which far too many voters refused to acknowledge, let alone read or comprehend. The first order of business will be firing 50,000 civil servants who have no political allegiances but do have the experience and expertise to enact the laws passed by Congress to make the bureaucracy function.

The MAGA “conservative” consortium has been vetting candidates to fill those positions for months, and again, the only qualification is loyalty to our first dictator. Their initial directive will be to begin dismantling the structures that allow the government to provide services and security for the American people.

Many in this lineup of cranks deserve to be questioned and examined during hearings in the coming weeks and immediately dismissed as completely incompetent and inappropriate nominations.

First up will be Pete Hegseth for Defense Secretary, who served in Afghanistan and then the Army National Guard (although he was disqualified from duty at President Biden’s inauguration because he has extensive white supremacist and Christian extremist tattoos all over his body). He gained notoriety as a weekend political propagandist on Fox (let’s not pretend it is a news network), where he caught Trump’s eye because “He looks good on camera.” The transition team did not run a background check before Trump offered him the position, and the truth about his tawdry past began to leak out immediately.

After his military service, he ran two advocacy groups, Veterans for Freedom and Concerned Veterans for America, which promoted continued involvement in Middle East conflicts and, despite large contributions, were unable to pay their obligations. He resigned amid allegations of financial mismanagement, sexual impropriety, and personal misconduct…he was blamed for “treating organization funds like they were a personal expense account.”

He paid hush money to a woman who accused him of sexual assault and has also been implicated in forcing other women into non-consensual sex. Former co-anchors stated that Hegseth was drunk numerous times while on the air at Fox. Other former coworkers said that he had to be restrained at public functions for his intoxication, inappropriate behavior, and shouting slogans about killing all Muslims.

He has never successfully run a professional organization and has no qualifications to command the most powerful military in the world. His testimony at his Senate hearing forced MAGA Senators to defend and deflect, but his arrogance, misogyny, racism, lack of experience, and inability to answer simple questions prove that he is not capable of fulfilling the post to which he has been nominated.

Trump tried to nominate Florida Representative Matt Gaetz as Attorney General, but after revelations of extensive drug use, sex trafficking of a 17-year-old girl, and numerous allegations of wire fraud, identity theft, stalking, and conspiracy, he resigned from Congress before a formal report could be issued.

The president-elect turned to former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who was a vocal supporter of Trump’s bogus claims of the stolen election and his attempt to overthrow the results. While she has ample experience, her primary qualification is an unquestioned fealty to Trump rather than upholding the law or the Constitution.

Then there’s Kash Patel, who has been nominated to serve as Director of the FBI. Patel served in several positions in Defense and Intelligence during Trump’s first administration, which he used to promote Trump’s agenda and attack his enemies.

In his 2023 book, Government Gangsters, Patel published a list of 60 “Deep State” actors who he believes, without proof, should be prosecuted for federal crimes, including Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, Merrick Garland, Bill Barr, Robert Mueller, James Comey, Mark Esper, and Robert Hur, to name a few.

He is the lead dog in Trump’s campaign of revenge and retribution against his political enemies and the legitimate press. He has spewed lies, misinformation, and widely debunked conspiracy theories for years that should disqualify him from being in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, an institution grounded in truth and facts.

At the center of officials in the hub of American Intelligence is former Army Reserve Lieutenant Colonel and Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who will oversee 18 spy agencies and be responsible for assimilating the daily intelligence summary for the president.

A fierce loyalist to Trump, she also developed relationships with Vladimir Putin and parroted false Kremlin propaganda on the Fox Network in the United States. Her nomination was hailed in the Russian press as a “Russian asset.” She falsely “accused the US of running biological weapons laboratories in Ukraine – a falsehood often touted by Russia,” and in 2017, traveled to Syria for cordial meetings with the now-deposed President, Bashar al-Assad, whose forty-year family autocracy kidnapped, tortured, and murdered thousands of Syrian citizens.

Her hearing has been postponed due to “incomplete paperwork” which is an indication that her interviews with Senators proved her lack of character and expertise for the job. There are rumors that her nomination will be withdrawn.

Rounding out the quintet of miscreants who will oversee the nation’s security and secrets is former Congressman John Ratcliffe, who also served as national intelligence director during Trump’s first term, as CIA Director. The position includes the power to appoint spies overseas and conduct covert operations at the president’s direction. Of the five, Ratcliffe is the only nominee with credentials to qualify for the position, but he is a staunch loyalist first and always, who earned Trump’s favor for publicly releasing unverified information casting doubt on Russia’s influence in the 2016 presidential election, over the objection of members of the intelligence community, to help Trump’s 2020 ambitions.

With this group in charge of law enforcement, Defense, and Intelligence, we should worry about their incompetence and unrestrained allegiance to Trump. But more to the point, we should be worried that the 900-page Project 2025 missive suggests that these people have been chosen for their willingness and commitment to dismantle the apparatus that allows our government to collect data and information from many sources around the world to understand what our adversaries are doing and provide advance warning of potential conflicts.

Like so many who will face Senate hearings in the next few weeks, these nominees have damning character flaws and lack experience or qualifications that would have excluded them from consideration in any previous administration. Their only attributes or abilities are blind subservience to the whims of our rapist, convicted felon, and ego-centric traitor - President-elect Trump.

Let the chaos begin, and God help our nation survive the nightmares these maggots will conjure up over the next four years.

Stand up, speak up, and make a difference!
